On the first look, the throne's structure might resemble that of the modern western architecture. But looking close enough, you will see that the carved pattern on the throne were wisely done with the ancient Moor art by an Italian architect Mario Tamagno, in whome King Rama V tructed to be the designer for many other important palaces and bridges.
Although we are normally amazed by the great, grand architectures of many buildings, for the Apisekdusit Throne, size doesn't matter. This Classic Siam architecture has been the reflection of the Siam Country for more than a hundred year. It was built by King Rama V, in the year 1904, to be the temporary throne room when the king visited Vimanmek Palace. The throne is delicately decorated with craftwork. When King Rama V died, the throne was permanently closed until it became tattered. Recently, the throne has been renovated to be the craftsmen museum of Queen Sirikit.
This throne open everyday from 9.30 to 4.00. Dress properly before entering the palace.
